So, I'm at about 2500 words, and I expect to get to about 10,000. I'm trying to finish it before going back to school in late August. My girlfriend is going to edit it for me, and if I like it I guess I'll try to get it published. Anyways, it's about a guy who wakes up from cryogenic storage in a spaceship that's full of nasty creatures with no memory of what's going on...
Hey wait, it gets better, I promise!
Anyways, does anybody whose a little more experienced in the writing department have any suggestions? Also, when it's done I can send it to you guys individually over email or pms or whatever, I just don't want to post it directly to these boards, since if it gets published that would piss them off.

No Civ, it's the guy who awakes who has no memory. Also, I've finished a short story, about 1000 words or so, and my girlfriend's editing it right now. Once it's done, I suppose I'll post it.

Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

Same here.
The thing is, I find it hard to join the book-club on here. I dont want to vote and then be obligated to read a book I dont feel like reading. Plus you have to get a copy and all first etc.
The short story club should have two rules:
-First one to post a short story at the beginning of the month -> thats the story no consecutive months, if it gets popular well find a better way
-Short story has to be accessible online
Maximum length?
Something like that?
I suppose one of us posts a short story for october, and the three of us can get cracking on it Jez, skye, me
