I like Deathly Hallows for exactly the reasons everybody is discussing it. Nobody knows what it is supposed to mean, or be about. That's the way it's supposed to be.

Deathly pale: You are as pale as death
Deadly pale: You are so pale it could kill someone. What?
Theres one use. Deathly cold or deathly still would also work.

Also: who bets that Harry Potter dies at the end of the book?
Another question: who is still interested enough in the series to even bother to think of it, let alone answer?
Since I'm too lazy to go back through the whole thread, I'm just gonna answer this -
1) No idea what the semantic construction of DEATHLY is or what connection it has with the noun "death".
2) Harry probably will die, which kind of sucks since life's already depressing enough as it is.
3) I've been in a love/hate relationship with the series for a while now, so it'll feel good to finally have it over and done with.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

1. To make or set apart as holy. (possibly more used for hallowed but I'll leave it for now)
2. To respect or honor greatly; revere.
Deathly "set apart holy stuff" doesn't really work.
Deathly "honor" or "Revere" again not really making a whole lot of sense to me.
I guess we will just have to wait and see how it works in with the actions within the book I suppose.

Yeah and as such I'm siding with Spoony. I think she's the one that's right!

I will buy it the day it comes out and read it non-stop in one sitting, just to see how badly it sucks.
