It's real impossible for me, I believe it is through fault of my computer and it's unfounded hatred for liesure suits, just like it's hatred for people by the name of arthur, but as soon as I get past the title screen to start walking around... it crashes

Try right-clicking on the .COM file. Then go to "properties" and select "Windows 98" compatibility mode. See if that helps.
