Last year's attempt ended with scorching at the bottom of a giant pot, but this year Norway's Information Office for Meat is trying again with the benefit of extra technology. On Thursday they will get out their two-meter (6.56 feet) wide pot and try to cook 393 kilos (866.4 lbs) of national dish 'fårikål' (mutton and cabbage). Last year's attempt ended with the fårikål burnt to the bottom of the pot.
On September 30 in Oslo's Stortorvet central square, Fårikål Day will be celebrated with another attempt to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. Fårikal, layers of mutton and cabbage slowly cooked with salt and pepper, is widely considered to be Norway's national dish.
