i have heard that for a possible 30th anniversy re-re-re-re-lease that in keeping with say other sci-fi epics ( star trek klingon / etc etc etc ) that a whole new lanaguage will be created and spliced into the sound track...
just like the tractor beam station in the 1977 version was english in the re-re-re-re x inifinty re-releases it now has alien writting on it, we are talking about ALL dialog being in an alien speak....
is this possible....the audience would have to now read the sub-titles....
man can the re-re-re-re-releases of SW
sorry i cut myself off...can the re-takes get any stranger...

On one hand, I don't know if ANH will get any more tweaks because the Obi Wan/Vader duel was left untouched for the Special Edition version and subsequent DVD release. The footage shown has Obi Wan fighting with the partially activated lightsaber because the prop one used broke and I guess they ran out of footage or didn't have a lot to choose from when editing. They didn't even animate the blue color into Obi Wan's saber, leaving it white. On the other hand, with High Def DVD, and the apparent need for Lucas to rebox the PT and OT into one big money making sha-bang, there must be extras thrown in. There was no commentary with Mark Hammill or Harrison Ford on the DVDs yet they sat for interviews during the Story of Star Wars extra crap, so I wouldn't be surprised if they sat in for a commentary session for the HD version. Also, the fan magazine had stills of the Anchorhead scene which was remastered and shown at a fan convention and never again. I'm sure it will someday see the light of day, along with the Wampa/Snowtrooper scene in ESB and the sandstorm/parting ways scene in ROTJ.

What scenes are these? I've never heard of them.

The Wampa scene involves Threepio ripping off the sign saying in Rebel-ese that its dangerous to enter the storage area where the Wampas were kept, as they attacked Echo Base because Artoo=s electronic beeps drove them mad. Upon escape to the landing bay, Threepio rips off the sign and the Snowtroopers supposedly enter the room only to get mauled.
The ROTJ scene was the first one filmed and takes place after the Skiff battle where Luke and the gang part company where the Millennium Falcom is parked along with his X-Wing. There's a sandstorm taking place and the whole gang have protective goggles and Leia has a blanket like wrap. I'm sure there are more missing scenes, as ESB had 60 hours of film shot alone. There is a scene where Vader makes his way to the Emperor's throne room and he Force-chokes anyone in his way, probably the scene before the Emperor says "I thought I told you to remain on the command cruiser...." You can see more info on deleted scenes and the like at this link:

While they are pretty cool and are esentially any fan's wet dream, they really dont contribute much to the overall flow.
My only gripe was with the whole biggs stuff.
they had his scenes, then cut them, then re-added the hangar scene in the SE....but not the anchorhead stuff.
its pretty dumb.
heres some screens of the stuff:
C-3PO ripping the wampa sign off:
luke's bacta healing mask:
imperial officer getting his $hit ruined by a force pike:
When Vader goes to see The Emporer he is told he's not allowed in so he decideds in true Vader fashion to choke the guard and let himself in. (the shot of him here kinda reminds me of batman....but thats just me):
ROTJ's skiff making its way to the falcon:
ROTJ's sandstorm scene:
ENJOY!

the sandstorm bit i've always been curious about, but i've seen nothing other than photos...
there's also a few ESB bits with lando...
but i never new about the extra redguard stuff...
i've always wanted to see them in action, and after 20+ years in ROTS they take half a step before getting knocked out.... RIPPED OFF!
although the vader choke red dude bit sounds familiar...
very familiar, I may have actually seen that...
somewhere.

A while back, during the summer I posted a thread about scenes from TPM that I know I saw in the theaters but never saw again.
Heres the thread: CLICK HERE
It almost makes us wonder if we are going insane.

the only example i can think of right now is for some reason 'the crow'
when Eric takes out Top Dollar's henchmen while My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult play After The Flesh in the club below untill Eric pushes someone throw the glass down into the mosh pit... i went back and watched the film 4 times at the cinema... and i (and others, particularly MLWTTKK fans) distinctly remember the singer groovie man looking up to see what's going on before running out with everyone else....

I think the stuff with Luke & Biggs at Anchorhead, or him watching the Star Destroyer/Tantive battle through his binocs, really would have wrecked his reveal as a character.

That is a valid point, but the stuff could have been included as legitimate extras on the DVD release at least. I don't understand why the Anchorhead footage was redone to show at a fan convention with new sound and all only to seemingly be shelved later. We all know at this point I suppose that Lucas will hit us with another whammy at the cash register by releasing the OT AGAIN, or maybe perhaps use the extras as bait to buy a big ass PT/OT all in one boxed set.
