This saddens me as well. I live under a rock, so I have only had the opportunity to experience the glory of pirates for a little less than a year. In 2001, I was still at a point in my internet experience when I freaked out if I somehow navigated away from the page I had started at and couldn't get back, assuming, I guess, that I would be trapped in the internet forever. Also, I'm not sure I believe that the pirate phenomenon is done for just yet. Talk Like A Pirate day was barely celebrated two years ago- I found out about it on the actual day, and was surprised more than one person was doing it (in fact, there were about three). The next year, nearly everyone in the school dressed up and attempted pirate accents (though not in the classes of the more terrifying teachers) , the physics teacher was treated to a rendition of "It's Talk Like A Pirate Day" by Ravenclaws hopeful for house points (long story, if you haven't heard it), there was a pirate ship complete with cannons set up on the front lawn, and the BU flag was replaced with a skull and crossbones (apparently, nobody important actually noticed). Clearly, this is just peaking, and an excuse this large for silliness should not be labeled "played out". So long as there are a hundred and fifty people willing to speak in mock cornish accents and wear eyepatches, the spirit of piratism is alive, and should remain so.
(Plus, that whole "Talk Like Colonel Tigh Day" thing hasn't gone as well as I would have hoped...)

What if you do a bom-chicka-wow-wow during actual references to people having sex?
Otal: That is very sad. :-( It's not Sparta anymore. I enjoyed the silly meme for a litlte while, but we can move on now. I also never saw the movie, I just enjoyed the concept of randomly appearing pits to kick people into because it's so absurd.
I'll stop bashing Bush when he stops being an inept chimp and makes a good decision and can speak a sentence clearly without pausing halfway through when said sentence has words in it with more than two syllables. I don't complain for cheap laughs, I complain because of my indignation at the damage he's done to the world through his actions.
I still find Monty Python hilarious, but agree that it's over-quoted.
I also HATE Weebl and Bob, and the pie thing should die. Yesterday, if possible.
No one outside of gamer communities should be allowed to use the phrase "owned." I was owning newbs in Quake 2 deathmatch seven years ago, thank you very much. Then some idiot made a typo and people started getting pwned. >< And on top of all that, I often get my ass kicked when I'm performing poorly these days, not owned.
Finally, what if you make use of overdone jokes, knowing fully-well that they're overdone, to call attention to their absurdity as a twist of irony? That's the only reason I've ever touched that "izzle" stuff.

I've been guilty of the same crime on occasion.

firstly when i see someone taking something off i do the 1960s english strip club music: "BAH-DAH-bom-bom-DAH-DUH-bom -bom"Etc.
or sometimes the benny hill theme.
but chefelf, what would you have all these people do? hum electronica and say "yeah, babe now take a dump on my chest" like they're reading it off a cue card while battling a learning disorder?

This surfer-dude beach-bum look.
The average person that sports this image wears a shirt that says with huge letters that says:
"H-O-L-L-I-S-T-E-R"
whoooopeeey--dooo... You are sooo cool cause you have a shirt from Hollister. Are you from California?, Have you ever lived in California? Have you ever been to California? Do you have friends in California?
You are sooo much cooler than me, because you own a shirt that says HOLLISTER on it. Damn.,I am so jealous.
And these people that wear these Hollister shirts, always make sure they buy a shirt from Hollister, that says Hollister with really big letters,..because they are braggarts.
They are usually young skinny guys, who wear worn out, ripped & faded blue jeans, and huge oversized sunglasses.
They also use a whole bottle of hair gel on their hair, and make their hair look like one of the characters off of Dragonball Z.
Lets not forget about those silly seashell necklaces,.usually white minature coral seashells,.sometimes they are brown. And they wear these silver rings on their fingers..does they silver rings mean they are homosexual? I am confused...I thought they were trying to be cool or something,.oh deary me!

That does it for me. I just recently saw that episode and don't see what all the fuss is about with that line. It's the least funny thing about the sketch and if people didn't scream it out all the time, I wouldn't have even noticed it.
Charlie Murphy's work on the True Hollywood Stories:rick James was great and if I hadn't seen the show I would have never known about it, because nobody talks about it. I waited a while to watch it because I thought the major punch line was "i'm rick james bitch" and I never thought that was funny to begin with.

the inclusion of a borat impersonater in epic movie was far more baffeling? considering that there joke was to show him in that big green thong, which was also the joke in the original, so what was the point of having him in epic movie?
it's like family guy, which i enjoy but, what the hell was with the sound of music bit when the kids go to bed? they just re-enacted it... that's not enough, you have to do something with it. the griffins doin it doesn't make it funny oni ts own.
repeating things like this is only funny if the person doing it can do the voice really well. if everyone just keeps yelling it all the time you rob it of actually beeing funny on the odd occasion that its appropriate. if there is a voice actor in your social group, for example, please wait for him to do it should the circumstance arrive rather than allowing some untalented dofus to further perpetuate the premature dating of a catchphrase.
that is a picture of Captain Hollister from Red Dwarf.
