"Zombie films" What do you think of them?

I have this serious problem with the later Zombie films that have been coming out lately (Such as '28 Days Later' and the remake of 'Dawn of the Dead'). Alot of these zombies run faster then they did when they weren't undead. As far as I know zombies are supposed to be rotting hunks of rotting flesh that shuffle around moaning. If you have seen the remake of 'Dawn of the Dead' that has recently came out... those zombies could run, jump off of a balcony, do three flips in mid-air and land on their feet. It's still a good movie but I'm very disapointed. In case your wondering it wasn't directed by George Romero himself, in fact he had nothing to do with it.
I was listening to a commentary on the DVD edition of the ORIGINAL 'Dawn of the Dead' and George Romero says "The script for my fourth zombie flik is out there, but publishers are too afraid to finance the movie" (because it may be to violent of course). Romero said that he might call it "Dead Reckoning" and it takes place in a downtown area. Romero also wants to shoot in Pennsylvania again but he is not sure. I'm not 100% sure that these are FACTS but that is what he said in the commentary. Listen to it yourself!

I agree with you completely, Shawnathan. I have been known to rant on endlessly for hours and hours about how wrong, just downright wrong, it is to suddenly decide that zombies are lightning fast super humans. I mean there's more horror in the thought of a horde of slow-moving, moaning corpsese tearing you limb from limb than "ZIP, BANG, And you're dead on impact", you know?

they're humans infected with a rage virus, they are not undead, they're just crazy and violently ill... call it nitpicking, but it's just what i think.
I love zombie films, and that's why i have no intentioon of seeing the remake of dawn of the dead... because the zombies are acting like the 'infected' of 28 Days Later, which just isn't cricket!!!
nor is it any way, neccesary or right to remake such a classic...
why can't people make new zombie flicks... Ronald Regan is dead, so we can start making horror films again!!!
Braindead (AKA Dead Alive) by Peter Jackson is my favorite though...

Perfectly legit point. I've said the same thing countless times, and it's nice to finally find someone who agrees. I've never even seen it, since I haven't much interest, but I'm sure I will someday. The same can be said for the Dawn Of The Dead remake.

Could a Vampire suck the life out of a zombie?
When a zombie dies, does his soul do anything?
reaches for dictionary. akin to Kongo nzambi god; (1871) a: the voodoo snake deity; b: the supernatural power that according to voodoo belief may enter into and reanimate a dead body. ok so it's not a "good" soul I'd wager. plus that whole "snake" thing.
will-less and speech less human in the west indies capable only of automatic movement who is held to have died and been reanimated but often believed to have been drugged into a catelepsy for hours of internment. that explains it.
so, what about when hmyns speak of the rising of the dead? I've heard it said that on the first Easter day, that Saints of old rose from their graves.
But zombies doing back-flips and landing on their feet? Now I've heard everything.

No, I don't think a zombie would have their soul, if they did, I doubt they would go around killing people and eating their brains and such (although, if all zombies are supposed to be cannibalistic then I guess there really is no helping that), but if they had their souls, I'd imagine that they'd act a bit more...human.
That and perhaps they'd be a bit upset by their zombie state.
Vampires vs. Zombies, eh...?

On the subject of the Dawn of the Dead remake and 28 Days Later, I have to say they are both really good films. 28 Days Later gave what I thought was one of the most realistic portrayels of a zombie type scenerio (even though zombies aren't technically involved). So, of course the zombies are fast; people are fast. The Zombies/Rage Victims are people; therefor they are fast. And frightening. Throw that in with the relatively zombie free scenes where we observe groups of people, military and normal citezens a like, trying to cope in a world that they believe has abandoned them, and you've got a high quality movie.
Dawn of the Dead... well geez, that movie was just fun. Its starts fast, and it doesn't let up... except when it does, and then it does a great job of combining group dynamics in cricis situations with just the right amount of humour. All in all, an excellent movie, true to the spirit of the original, with some nice twists.

Has anyone seen the movie vampires vs zombies? It's horrible but it's a funny kind of horrible and some horrible actresses get naked.
