HOLY SHIT! STARTROPICS!!! I still own both of those games for my NES. I also own all of the Mario games, including Mario is Missing and Dr. Mario (I don't know why someone bought me M is M'ing, stupid edutainment.) I have FF1, although the manual is shot to hell and the save game battery is dead. I beat both of the Startropics games, a bunch of times. I remember when the game told us to put the manual underwater for the code (Chapter 6?), and we (me and my dad) had to call up the hotline to figure it out, and it turns out we'd lost the manual anyway, so we had to call again for the code. Remember game hotlines before gamefaqs and Sega Sages... I mean Game Sages... I mean shitty division of IGN now...? Man. I'm old...
My greatest purchase has got to be all the free NES games I got from my webmaster. Gold editions of both Zeldas, Contra, the sequal to Wizards and Warriors, POW... I love that man.
Second greatest purchase is getting a new copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends for only 20$ at some game store in Florida. EB is run by a bunch of rip-off assholes who try to sell used PS1 games for 40$ (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (or whatever)). Skies is always $40 there too. Bastards...
Worst times? Trying to boot up my Genesis with Sonic 3 + Knuckles in it and finding out that my system doesn't work.
I stopped ditching games, regardless of quality after I traded in Star Wars and Ducktales for the NES for some other game, and then found myself wondering why the hell I had sold them. Both of those were cool. Ducktales' soundtrack still knocks my ears off with goodness.
