(God, I'm such a pathetic person...)
Okay, so here's a big fat SPOILER WARNING because if I don't say that people will scream at me.
First of all. The thing with the Book of the Bridge at the end... wow. Simone's little entry made me laugh though, but perhaps I shouldn't have. And does this mean Jim is going to die too? Ooooh yeah, the floating guy in bandages thing mentioned in passing really has me intruiged... not that I wasn't before. Heh. So, the next little gamelet thing is going to be the Mind or something? Wonder who that'll be about...
Oh, several things about the game itself. How come you had to 'look AT' things? It wasn't that hard to figure out, but it got annoying because I kept forgetting it wasn't like usual text games. And it took me a bit to figure out the words to what I was going to write on the paper. I kept thinking I had to make it say exactly what it said in the pamphlet thing. Oh well. The game itself was somewhat easy though, but I think that was the point.
Anyway, now I'm totally excited for the new game. Yayness. Can three weeks come soon enough?

You can thank the default Inform parser for that. I dunno, I'd have thought LOOK THING on its own would have been fine, but not for those snobby elitists over in the text adventure (whoops, sorry - 'interactive fiction') community with pretensions to being 'literate'. You have to type LOOK AT THING or EXAMINE THING so you can be grammatically correct.

Now, I had been fumbling around with Inform 7 in the past, and in my tinkering I found this little gem that might be helpful to you, Yahtzee, if you want your audience to have an easier way to play your games.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/zplet/
It's a Java applet that interprets Z code so the games can be played right in the browser. I'm still not sure about how well the save/load function works, so you will have to look into that yourself.

By 'wrath', I think the prophecy could've meant a fate worse than just death. Look at Trilby's shattered life after the manor incident, for example: he himself says in the intro that Philip and AJ were the fortunate ones. And it's said in the prophecy that the Mind of the Bridgekeeper was the house itself, which was destroyed along with his body. Somerset destroyed the idol, which contained DeFoe's Soul, so I'm guessing there'll be big catastrophies to avert in the last game.

Maybe you've been looking into IF for a long time, maybe it was the suggestion I made herein, but thanks anyway. You are a pretty good story-teller so it would be a shame if you didn't give it a try.
Also, I agree Inform still needs some work, but rest assured it will improve with time.
Cheers and well-done.

But in the prophecy, the Prince said that Trilby would be the one spared from the wrath, which makes it seem like the term is being used to mean death. Perhaps the Tall Man thinks a fate worse than death is better.

Also, you might want to play around a bit more with the default settings, as responses like 'as good-looking as ever' (to 'look at self' specifically) don't really fit the theme.
But why are you so pissed off at the IF community, Yahtz? I'm sure there are perfectly good technical reasons for requiring an 'at', and Z-code has been used since the days of Infocom. Come, let all adventure gamers of every medium join hands and sing in harmony.

Finally something to stop my twitching... Thanks, Yahtz.
UPDATE: Okay, finished. Great game, Yahtz. I'd like to turn it into a graphics adventure, but I'm busy at the moment, and anyway, you probably wouldn't allow it.
And Nostaw, try using the scroll button on the WinFrotz to scroll up to the room description. If they have that scroll function, the "look at room" command really has no purpose.

Without question, there are also many perfectly good technical reasons for omitting said 'at'. One being that I'm too lazy to type three more characters each time.
Nostaw: Try "look". Yeah, just "look". That totally does the trick, as it only repeats the description of the room, you don't need to "look around" any further. That tip's rather anti-climatic, innit?
