The boss got kind of tough, but eventually I learned his tactics, and discovered that, the best way to beat him is to stay in a hanging position and watch and see if the little white spikes are showing when he is about to attack. If they are, then shoot him until he takes damage, then return to a hanging position. If the spikes don't show, quickly get out of the way and dodge his impail attack. The hanging position allows you to quickly move up or down in the shaft, dodging his attacks.
Sometimes he attacks many times without moving, which makes it harder, but if you are lucky, you should be able to take him down before those random attacks do you in.

Yeah, it's really not that great being as bad at adventure games as I am. I just love them so much despite my lack of skill/patience/problem solving ability. Thankyou for your time and effort.

A highlight for me was the writing on all the monologues, especially the recounting of the efforts to keep 1108 in one piece. Special mention for the way in which the monologues which end in nonsense scrawled by the plague-ridden author show subtle degeneration which the writer has yet to recognise in earlier pages, such as missing capitals and unusual spelling errors.
