Yes - after having watched it twice in the cinema - I saw it again on TV last night.

I don't know whether it was the ad breaks making it longer (thusly more painful), or the fact theat I could see my three least favourite lines coming.
("I don't like sand."
"If only Senator Amidala were here."
"I think it is time to inform the Senate that our ability to use the Force has been diminished.")

Was it the fact that I had spent time here at ChefElf, and my opinions of it had been sharpened - was it the fact that I had heard all that Lucas and McCallum said to us about it... whatever it was.

It sucked.

Really really badly.
Anyone else out there who has returned to the prequels and found them even crapper - or wants to violently disagree with me - what makes rewatching better/worse.

Its been a few weeks since I have seen AOTC. I have seen it quite a few times, many times being on accident, and some of the times, being so that I could make fun of it. It really does suck. You're right. The acting is bad, the CGI is stupid... its ate up.

When I joined here I rented the video and went back in for the fun. Laughing at it, of course. Mostly so I could report back on it here.

same deal. I rewatched them upon finding chefelf's site. The acting was worse, and the fight scenes were no longer interesting on second viewing.

Every time I watch the duels of ESB or ROTJ i find something new to think about.

One thing I had noticed when I saw it in the cinema was that because of the digital film/digital set/digital characters the real people appeared fake... as though they were very slightly transparent/superimposed or being affected by different light to everyone else - this time it was really glaringly bad.

If I went in with a Plan 9 from outer space mentality, maybe I might enjoy it.

Also, Despondent, your avatar is vaguely hypnotic.

I thought AOTC was a great movie. An upgrade from TPM and the story gets even more interesting, as my favorite part of the Star Wars saga begins, with The Clone Wars. I see no problems with ATOC. I don't know what you were smokin'.

I wasn't smoking anything except blue screen. The story takes a flying leap and Anakin rides a flea. Go bash someone else, cause I'm going now.

Good, because you must've been smokin' something if you thought AOTC was as bad as TPM.

Dark Sith, you're exactly right. AOTC was not as bad as TPM. It was much, much worse.

(Added later:) And just because Yoda uses the words "Clone Wars" in the movie doesn't mean we've learned anything meaningful, or interesting, about them.

Watch the movie again, and actually learn from it. The Clones are all explained. Read the book Lybrinth of Evil, it explains everything about Syfo Dias. Actually sit down and watch the movie, without being so god damn objective.

We did. And it doesn't reward repeat viewing. Sell crazy someplace else.

Hey, I'm being too objective! biggrin.gif I've never been accused of that before - I wish it were true, though. The world needs more objectivity. (But not more Objectivism.)

Yes, you are all nitpickers who have no life and hate the Prequels for immature little reasons.

No, we have a life. And we nitpick because, well, gosh darn it, we want to!

You're such a joke, darth sith! Get a grip man. Stop trying to tell us we can't nitpick.

What are you? Some kind of fucking facist?

Great, you like the PT's. Good for you, go fucking enjoy it then and leave us alone.

Here's a poll you can take....

Which movie looked more realistic: Toy Story or AOTC?

AOTC was the first SW movie w/o great special effects, and it wasn't just that they weren't great, they were awful. The things that were supposed to look like threatening organic creatures and natural environments looked like animatics, the images were explicitly digital, one glance lets you know you're in a synthetic world.

Did the special effects guys even give it a special effects nomination at the Oscars?
