That's odd, because it's perfectly legal to cover a song. You don't need to pay royalties or get artist permission. I donno why, but it's the truth.
You don't need to pay for something if you're making a parody of it either, and I think even though the ZP rip-offs are a shame, they've contained enough original material that I don't think Yatz or The Escapist could make a legal case against them, at least not under current copyright law....

Anyway, the original artists got wind of it. Even though the dubbed videos are clearly parodies and therefore completely legal, YouTube cancelled StSanders' channel without notifying him.
I guess they'd rather err on the side of caution, but the guy had hundreds of thousands of views, so he was obviously bringing traffic to the site. Just seems like a really shitty thing to do to one of your most famous uploaders (he was on Letterman, Kimmel, etc.)
Here's a link to the videos on his own private site, just in case anybody is interested. I know we have guitarists here. Clapton, Santana and Ozzy are my favorites.
