1) The movies stink
2) There's been no Passion of the Christ
3) What slump? DVD sales are huge
4) Men aren't going to the movies
5) It's cyclical
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

hollywood won't let anyone make a film that is exciting and new, with a different formula...
they only like movies targeted at the common man. Movies that are shown at cinemas which are priced out of the range of the common man.
$15.00AUD for ticket
$10.70AUD for smallest popcorn and smallest coke
take into considereation transport cost and parking...
and your easily looking at over $30.00 just to go see a feakin' film!!!

Apparently.
A lot of people have said they wouldn't mind going to the movies more often if it wasn't so damn expensive. Odds are movie theaters are only going to raise prices after hearing that one.

For example: For Jen and I to go to the movies and see a movie once with no popcorn, no drinks, etc. would cost us at least $20.00 anywhere in New York City (or most of the rest of America).
Or we could wait a few months (which I'm more than willing to do with 95% of the movies I want to see) and purchase the same movie for $20.00 (sometimes less) and have it forever and have special features, etc. Or, rent it for $4.00 if we only want to see it once.
There are only 2-3 movies a year that are exciting enough to me to not be able to wait to watch them at home. The rest I'm happy to wait 4-6 months to see.

I worked at a vid store, I should know. Not only did I watch all the new films, I got customer feed back. I think, and people thought, that most of the new movies sucked. Rental sales were down and my boss was not stock piling new releases.

Thats pretty much how I feel. Theres an annoying reel being played being played before all films over here right now. In it, a girl starts crying over a voice track that says "My emotions are being stolen, my feelings are being stolen, my movies are being stolen". Her tears turn into what looks like developing fluid, which turns into a skull printed over a reel of film.
"Don't illegally download!"
I hate this kind of pathetic self pitying whining from the film industry. You just charged me $10 to see The Brothers Grimm, and you want to convince me that i'll miss out on the full movie experience if I download it from the net?!
I was so disgusted I nearly dropped my camcorder.
