I was bored the other day and decided to see what kind of Star Wars lit was being churned out these days. I ran through the first volume of the Legacy of the Force series (I think it was called 'Betrayal'), and came out with one overwhelming question: When will the heroes of the OT finally retire? Thirty years after RotJ they're still chugging away, fighting threats and trading recycled quips. Of course, I probably wouldn't want them to retire, as their replacements are mostly flat, irritating characters with the fingerprints of half a dozen authors on them. What do you all think of this latest batch of EU lit?

I actually haven't gotten to
the Leagcy series i'm still trying
to work my way through the series before it.
But think about what would
happen if Luke Leia and Han retired.
the books would flop.
Jacen and Jaina would take over, that would ruin it.
And oh how the mobs would gather if
any of the originals were killed
or worse died of nature causes.
And why can't we have at least one book of peace?
But I read the Leagcy Comics by Darkhorse
and i think i'll stick to those.
All the important Skywalkers are gone
It's a fresh start and rather good too.
But as for the books, they're going south
as far as new character development.
Half the time it's like who are you and why should i care.
Oh and the kids havig kids come on.
How long ago were the second generation
introduced and now they have kids

WAIT !!!!!
JACEN WENT TO THE DSRKSIDE!?!??!?!?
i read somewhere that the family was
worried about his actions but really he made
it all the way across the line!
say it ain't so....
Don't tell me Jaina is the sensible one now

Who HASN'T gone to the Dark Side and come back, that's what I want to know?
In the EU it seems like everyone has done it at least once...
It's getting to be like a bad soap opera or a comic book that's run out of ideas...
I guess that's why I basically gave up on the EU back in 2000... (except for the occasional video game that's decent, but I couldn't care less for the new continuity or the new characters)

In the Legacy of the Force series, some 150 years after the original film, the Sith have once again risen to power, in the form of a barnacle-encrusted, Yuuzhan Vong-hating warmongerer, Darth Krayt. Hilarity ensues.

In the Legacy of the Force series, some 150 years after the original film,
150 years. Wow. That's a long time! I wonder how many Death Stars have been built and blown up in that period.

None, unfortunately. Oh, and apparently the Fels take control of the galaxy, only to lose it to a revived Sith brotherhood. Also, there is a descendant of Luke Skywalker in the midst of all this, who is searching for the Sith who killed his father.
Sound familiar, anyone?
