For my part, I think it's going to be amazing. After suffering through the Pierce years, with each film more over-the-top than the last, this 'back to basics' idea is really appealing. And Craig looks just awesome as Bond, hair color be damned! I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a film.

All these Bonds elitests think he sucks because he has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Only one thing needs to be in stone, accent. A scottish or british accent is all that's required.
Bond films have sucked shit for the most part and it has nothing to do with Bonds hair colour. The scripts are shit.
If this film has a good script like Golden Eye, Dr. NO, or Goldfinger, then the film will be a success. If it's like A View to a Kill or Tommorrow Never Dies, then the film will be crap.
Feminists already got their hands on modern Bond but I guess the show does reflect the age well, like the previous ones did. I won't mind if things get darker. The last few bonds were total snooze fests.

Those are two of my fav ones.
I really wanted to like Die Another Day, but nothing can ever convince me that Bond's car can be invisible.
Everytime I think of A View to a Kill, that Duran Duran song gets stuck in my head
Shit, Fuck, Piss: I had to say that because I can on this website. (Thanks Chef!)

It will be easier to make an invisible car than it will be to change a person's genetic code. The goofiest thing about that film was the mix of old and new styles. Like, we now suggest it's possible to change one's genetics, but impossible to remove diamonds once they become embedded in the surface of a man's skin.
They tried to go dark and gritty with the opening torture sequence, but cutting it to the Madonna song, and then following it with the dumbest load of sci-fi nonsense since made it less clever than MOONRAKER.

The Bond concept has never adjusted to the end of the Cold War, and 9/11 finished it off. Now you have a Bond villian, who exists in real life, who really kills a few thousand people. I don't see how this series can recover from that.
Of course, due to the society we have, the series will be milked until its completely dry. But I don't expect to be entertained by another Bond movie.

If you notice, there seems to be a handful subtle competitors in the motion picture industry that are trying to do just that. Steal the thunder from Bond. Some critics say that Bond is too old.
The film: "XXX" was more or less an attempt at doing just that. Mission Impossible is also note worthy. In my opinion these films lack the class and coolness that Bond retains, not saying they are bad films,.they are good films in their own right, but when compared to Bond they dont measure up .Bond's appeal is timeless and his fanbase is too large to simply kill of the franchise.

Ive always saw it the other way around..that Bond was always ahead of his time..especially with all his gadgetry. The fact that Bond films are being made in modern times helps bring the technology he has to fruition. IMO, some of the best Bond films are the ones with Brosnan

I always thought the only decent Bond film Brosnan had was GoldenEye. Brosnan himself was a decent Bond, but Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day just weren't that good.
I'll give Daniel Craig a chance.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

personally i thought tha more people would be offended by the fact that he's gone from the sofisticated, refined, gentleman, to the the more... well, local mechanic look.

Still, im willing to be convinced.
I agree that Bond is a little outdated. Maybe for the next one they could put him up against an islamic terrorist with nukes or something. That would make more sense nowadays than just some rich guy with a facial scar and a white cat. But i guess realism has never really been the point of Bond movies anyway.
