The only reason why i think the rule of two is worth holding onto is because KOTOR made it make sense. Although KOTOR takes place before Darth Bane's Sith reformation and there are many sith masters running around with apprentices. There can only be two Darths though.
The only reason why i cling to the "rule of two" is that i don't want to make KOTOR non-canon...because i feel its story is more legitimate and "canon" than the entire PT.
GL himself shows in the PT that while Maul and Sidious were the 2 sith. There was a dark-tempted jedi...Sypho Dias, ordering clones and erasing planets.
The force witches aren't Sith. Neither was Cybbaoth (sp) in the Thrawn triology, or even Jerek in Dark Forces II. (remember he had a boat-load of dark jedi for Kyle Katarn to duel)
As for neutral Jedi...KOTOR validates this concept with Jolee the "grey" hermit.

That's probably more time than Lucas spent on it.
Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"
All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

I used to think "Lucas had twenty years to work on this and he came up with THIS crap?"
But now I realise that he was actually goofing off all those years, getting fat, lazy and unimaginative.
Is this what a twenty year break does to people? Turns them into silly idiots?
This could be a topic for another thread, but I'd really like to work out what happened to Lucas. He has some very fine films to his name, that he actually wrote and/or directed.
Did something happen to him along the line?
In 1982, he made RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, the last good film he wrote. The very next year, he came out with RETURN OF THE JEDI, the film where the rot of commercialisation and lame resolutions infected STAR WARS.
What happened? Did he fall off a horse and hit his head or something?

Also, Palpatine and the Dark Lord aren't the same person? But we know the Emperor's name in the OT is Palpatine. So how is that going to work? "
Sorry about the typo -
I didn't say that Palpatine doesn't become the Emperor.
I just said that the Dark Lord of the Sith isn't Palpatine.
There you have it. Spot the trick there.

It is strongly possible that all the scripts were written in their first forms, before TPM even came out. When you know what your doing in the movie industry, and know who to hire, it doesn't take long at all to come up with one. Perhaps the one I found, was what someone sent into Lucas, and he accepted it, and changed it around a bit.

I wish I knew what the cause of his madness was. He'd make a great subject for a pyschiatrist convention.

First chapter should go up soon - have to scan sketches up and render them on paint and pixia. Might be a bit big - highspeed connections only - I'll put a link to the screening room thread in this one - that shall be the sign.

Unfortunately their were issues with the webcomic, so it is in a written form - the very first chapter.
It sets up the backdrop, has a small space battle and lightsaber fight, introduces Anakin and Obi-Wan while letting on very little of the story to come.
As you'll see, I'm setting the screening room thread up for the actual thing, and using this thread for the discussion. Reviews, ideas, criticisms.
But the ground rules.
There is no Jar-Jar, no Qui-Gon, no Darth Maul or Count Dooku, no Queen Amidala nor Senator Padme, no Geonosians, no Nemoidians, no Gungans, no midichlorians.
Anakin is in his twenties, not nine.
Obi-Wan is of indeterminate age, but outwardly appears in his mid-thirties.
New stuff will come up soon.
Rememberer's takes have begun.
