We can only hope he lets someone else direct the movies.

The sequels are going to suck just as bad as the prequels/SE, and you KNOW there will be more "definitive" versions of the OT in order to "fit in with the postquels"

Edit: Hmmm, wonder what to make of it? Coulkd still just be a fanboy rumour, but it does seem to have some credibility. Well, he probably won't wait another 20 years so, but Ford, Hamill and Fisher returning? Seems highly unlikely...

My order of Top3 directors for the sequels would be:
1. Darren Aronofsky
Brilliant young director will a eye for detail and darkness. He would seem to be a perfect fit. Just watch 'Requiem for a Dream' and you'll know what I'm talking about here.
2. Alex Proyas
Another great director who's known for darkness and subtle imagery and disturbing content (think Episode III). Unfortunately, he went "mainstream" with
'I, Robot', but his track record speaks for itself.
3. Richard Kelly
Young American director who splashed into the spotlight after an impressive debut with 'Donnie Darko'. The sky seems to be the limit with him, and he's currently highly sought after.

Reading that IMDB story (which was a paraphrase of one from TheForce.net) makes me wonder how he plans on having 7,8 & 9 "pick up where Return of the Jedi left off".
Can you say CGI Luke, Leia and Han?

EDIT: Oh, and as for directors, I think Proyas would be best suited out of all them to make the sequels. I actually thought I, Robot was a very good movie, mainstream yes, but exceedingly enjoyable and thoughtful enough to make my mind happy. But I think I would much rather see an up-and-coming director handle them. You know, someone who would really put his heart into all of the movies, like Lucas did when he originally made Star Wars. Not a big-name guy who's just doing it for the sake of workding on Star Wars, but someone who wants to make his career with the movies, because then we'll probably get much better movies than the prequels.

If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

Oh, is he? I saw some contemporary pictures of him, and if the poundage means “decent enough shape”, sure as hell he has it. Sorry about it – I used to fancy Mark Hamill and it grieves me to see him gone to seed like that. Somebody in the forum (can’t remember who) suggested that the original trio should make only a cameo appearance in the sequels, and I think it is a good idea. I do not know about Carrie Fisher, haven’t seen her photos, but Harrison Ford is really embarrassing to look at, he has more wrinkles than Jabba has ticks.
And I am sure Mark Hamill would do the Sequels – it would be a chance for him to star in a major movie for a change, rather than doing voice-overs to video games. How did he stoop to that? But perhaps he is justly punished for appearing as a guest star in the Muppet Show.
(Does anyone remember this episode? He wore the outfit from ESB and everyone seemed to have been laughing at it. Sam the Eagle was even writing down the measurements for his tailor. I really did not get this joke. Can anyone tell me what it was all about? What was so funny about Luke’s clothes in ESB?)
