I saw another spot, and realized Spoon is right and they've screwed up again. It may be good, but it won't be Beowulf.

And Civ, to be fair, only one guy died in that battle, and they gave him a hero's funeral. And I didn't quite understand why that guy didn't fight for himself. Maybe he was the coward.

And I wouldn't exactly fault B for trying to use the element of surprise against a FLIPPING MONSTER supposedly large enough to have a bag in which he puts people.

EDIT: I.

Yeesh. Ok, 3D might be pretty cool. But these guys are capitalising pretty heavy on Beowulf's lack of description when they cast Angelina Jolie as the Troll's mother. OK, technically it never says she's a big ugly troll, but come on.

It funny you should mention that
My History teacher was like

"okay now who pictured Angelina Jolie
when they saw Grendal's Monther in their mind"

One guy raised his hand and was like she's what
made the story which is pretty sad considering what

i did read i really liked and hope that the movie will
be much better than false presentation of characters
Apparently they are making Beowulf more of a complex
character and less of a boasting hero

I rather prefer B's definition.

It was reasonably awesome but Beowulf fighting nude kinda ruined it for me.

I must say that this movie is positively craptastic. If you so choose, see it for the 3d, but don't expect much. Except a closeup of Anthony Hopkins digitally rendered 3d bahookie. sick.gif

I enjoyed the tits out of this film. I know the Lambert film and I know Beowulf and Grendel so my experience is not that of a literati. I liked it, even though I feel that Avery's crummy Pulp Fiction fingers and Gaiman's lovely yet nigh predictable prose did fail the movie somewhat, though it made the characters more endearing (for which I thank Neil). Not to mention their clear lack of knowledge of the film makers considering the geography of Denmark. Let me put it this way:

If it wasn't for a 200 meter high hill (not translating for you filthy yanks), Denmark would be competing with the Netherlands for the flattest terrain in the world, so where does this massive dramatic mountain come from? I'll be damned if I know. That was just bizarre and annoyed the fuck out of me for the entire film. It was if they had watched Beowulf and Grendel, seen the Icelandic landscape and gone "this is what our Denmark looks like too! But with snow and trees and castles!" before being trollied into Special Ed classes.

Woo 3-D!

EDIT: People who freak out over nudity, get over yourself. We're all going to turn old or ugly at one time or another. Do you never go swimming or into a public shower, unless you are blindfolded?
