A quick glance at my save files indicates that I have 7 characters in san fran, but no saves on the oil platform. I guess I get kinda bored towards the end and just try and level up off hubologists. In one game I'd even bothered to set up home in the brotherhood bunker and organised all my stuff.

Anyone know if interplay are going to bother finishing the third game anytime? I'm almost at the point of resurrecting my tactics scenario just to give me something to do....

Interplay went bust and handballed Fallout 3 off to Bethesda last I heard. They be the blokes who made Morrowind and the other Elderscolls games. Interplay is still in charge of the Fallout MMORPG though.

This is what happens when I get out of the suffle for a while; everything goes to the seven hells and I'm none the wiser. Got to beat this geek thing, It's really starting to take control of my life.

I guess Bethesda are decent enough, maybe lacking the cult sense of humour to pull of fallout, but I'll wait and see.

Until then, another play at arcanum.

Troika's a difficult one, I loved arcanum, although it was painful to look at, had a level limit, and no real humour to speak of. Realtime Multiplayer was a bad idea, guess they wanted to do a Diablo.

Temple of Elemental evil was, well, bad. Not an awful engine, but not what I expected from them. Kind of like playing an old AD&D scenario book with a twelve year old rule quoter. Manual\in game help was pretty weak in places. I've completed it, but I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon.

Vampire 2 I haven't played yet, The PC isnt quite up to it. Hopefully it's not like Mascarade, which had it's moments(Soceity of Leopold) but sucked in the long term.

EDIT: Alcoholic interferance.

I disliked ToEE. That being said, I didn't get very far in it. Actually, I got killed in my first fight. I hate being first level. You're endire party has no spells or equipment, and can be killed by a pair of oversize frogs.

The best thing I can say about TOEE is that it wasn't pool of radiance.

The equipment goes way off in TOEE, you start getting all kinds of overpowered stuff towards the end. Not to mention the item creation\enchantment (which the manual could really do with explaining a little!). First level = bad. Second = you at least can take some hits, so there's all the joys of leveling up from zero to hero. starting at level 9+ is just bad.

combat was shaky too, I remember some FAQ including a drinking game where you took one shot everytime a bugbear tripped your mage. Liver failure territory.

Hang on, these things happened in POR too, don't developers play games anymore?

Still, the forum fanboys blamed that one on atari insisting it be finished early. Although from the general style of the game (map screen etc) it's hard to see how they could have improved it much.

crying.gif Shed a tear my friends, because it would seem that Troika have just joined looking glass in the great developers in the afterlife.

half-arsed at their execution, but brilliant at ideas.

Shame.

I think it's quite possible that the greatest game of all time is the Resident Evil Remake for GC. It's really, really scary, dripping with atmosphere, has beautiful graphics, sound and is above all, fun.

While it is good, Eternal Darkness was better.

"While it is good, Eternal Darkness was better."

But was it scarier?

If that's true, I MUST play it. I will go buy it later today.

ED had the sanity thing going for it. The game was atmoshperic on it's own, but if you play with low sanity, it could scare the hell out of you.

Getting back to Fallout 2. I was watching the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy today, and I finally got the dead whale reference.
