nope...
and anikan and obiwan have a big conversation about R2...
obi should have remembered him...
Alright, here is the deal with this one. Obi-Wan never said he didn't know R2D2. Ben said that he didn't remember owning a droid. R2D2 was never Obi-Wan's property. R2 was Padme's and then Anakin's. If Luke had asked him do you know who R2D2 is, then Lucas would have screwed up. The fact is Luke told Ben that this droid seems to belong to him. Obi-Wan said, I do not remember owning a droid. C'mon, if you're gonna nitpick, do it right...

BTW: you need a tag at the beginning and end of something.
Oh, come on! Ben clearly doesn't know what or whose droid that is, and clearly doesn't remember it. You don't need everything spoon-fed to you, do you? Read between the lines a bit.

I'm just saying, if you are gonna take everything literally, then you have to read into exactly what Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi said, "I don't remember ever owning a droid."

i never said Obiwan should remember owning R2D2...
I said he should remember him. he shows no signes of it... he doesn't react to his presence at all.
why are you people having so much trouble understanding this rather simple premise...
to make a story set before the one upon which it is based, it is essential that the the story be presented and made in such a fashion that it complies with everything that occurs in the original.
if a character doesn't aknowlege someone as familiar in anyway or form, it is weak to leave it upto the viewr to just asume that EVERYONE IS A FUCKING MEMORY RETARDED MORON!!!!
vader doesn't say shit about c3p0, but he felt the need to take him off owen...
at least that explains why owen didn't like vader... but then owen doesn't remember c3p0 who had for several fucking years... and the apologist bullshit that owen demanded c3p0 have his memory erased was because he did recognise the droid is doubly lame because the fact that c3p0 didn't recognise him would be a dead fucking give away that he had already had his memory erased!!!!
on one hand you all like to say that leiah remembers her REAL mother through the force, because suddenly the force gives you unnatural memory retaining abilities, but they you say in obi wan, a man who devoted himself to the force, it leaves him high and dry on the memory front for no reason, so that he remembers no one????
WTF?!?
every defence you people bring to me is a direct contradiction to a previous defence. you are all struggling...
if you firmly beleived that all this shit made sense and was well done, you wouldn't have to fight so hard to proove it...
or is it taht you are affraid to admit that you have all emotionally invested yourselves into something unquestionly, and that exposure of such basic revelations, will in some way incriminate you...?
thankyou for that wonderfull attempt at wit...
my point is that it was a lame thing for a character to say...
using the same stlye of dialogue in the anikan, sliding towards lava scene would have gone like this...
Obi one : why did you go evil?!? you are making me sad and confused
Anikan : I'm hearing that you are sad and confused but i'm busy being angry because my legs hurt!!!
i don't think lucas has any understanding of how women talk or think or feel...
and judging by your sarcastic reponse... neither do you.

Anikan? leiah?
I dont know who these characters are. I know of an Anakin and a Leia...but thats as close as I come.
Now that you know how to correctly spell, retain the knowledge for the future, or it will be us calling you the "...MEMORY RETARDED MORON!!!!"
Remember, taking the extra couple of seconds to spell correctly not only gives your posts slightly more credibility, but it also makes you seem like less of a moron.

Good response, i swapped the 'a' and 'i' in a name that some farm boy came up with, and accidentally hit the h while typing the other...
Is this how you plan to discredit me? on a few typos on an internet forum...
Is that the basis of your entire argument?
"George Lucas is right and his inconsistencies are justified because you misspelled a name and an additional made up name in your pitch"
???
Ladies and gentlemen, I bow to the awesome intellect and cunning strategy that opposes me...
Good work,
Now that you know how to correctly argue, retain the knowledge for the future, or it will be us calling you the "...RETARDED MORON!!!!"
What victory do you think you have possibly won here?
Imagine if I responded to your post above with…
"what is "dont" and "thats"?... I know "don't" and "that's" but those words you used are unfamiliar to me..."
This justifies everything I have ever said about gushers. Thanks Giff, you’re a credit to your kind...

Okay, I've skimmed through all of the posts and observed we are discussing the following contradictions:
1. "Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough"
I will admit this is inconsistent and there is no possible way to get around it. The only reason I can think Ben said this is because he was trying to motivate Luke to learn the ways of the Jedi, and the only way he could spark Luke's interest was by mentioning his father. Throughout the entire scene in Ben's house, Luke seems totally disinterested in what Ben has to say, except when he is talking about Anakin. But that really has nothing to do with what Anakin said.
2. "Don't seem to remember ever owning a droid. Very interesting..."
(a) Obi-Wan never owned a droid. Part of the Jedi Code involved owning no material possessions, or something to that extent. Yes, Obi-Wan did fly around with R4 in his Jedi Starfighter, but that didn't mean he owned him.
(b) R2-D2 is a droid. Droids seem to be mass produced. There could be thousands of droids in the galaxy that look exactly like R2-D2 so that would be a big assumption on Ben's part to assume this particular droid was R2-D2. Although I am sure at some point during ANH Ben learns R2's identification, I just don't see why he would care that much. It's not like him and R2 would sit down and have a friendly conversation about what happened in the last 20 years.
3. "He was the best star-pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior.
I understand you've become quite a good pilot yourself. And he was a
good friend. Which reminds me..."
How has Luke become a good pilot by this point? Is he absolutely unreal at driving a landspeeder? Podracing seems a lot more difficult than driving a landspeeder, so if you accept Ben's line "I understand you've become quite a good pilot yourself" then you must also accept his line that "Your father was already a great pilot when I first met him".
4. Leia remembering her mother
This is another inconsistency that cannot really be explained. The only defense I can offer is that if you watch the deleted scenes from AOTC, there is one scene where Anakin and Padme are in Padme's bedroom and are looking at these "animated pictures" on the wall. It is possible Bail Organa decided at some point to bring Leia to Naboo to show Leia who her real mother was. Thus, the only thing she would have to remember her by would be these "animated images" which could easily display that Padme was beautiful, kind, yet sad.
But regardless, this doesn't account for her directly remembering her mother.

Since you brought it up....grammar might as well be addressed. It is not, "...or it will be US calling you the blah-blah-blah," but rather "it will be WE calling you the blah-blah-blah". Sheez.
Grammar. spelling....f- it, dude.

Inexcusable. Being on the internet should not give you an excuse to write poorly. If you practice using internet slang consistently, the quality of your writing will decrease.

Okay, let's get back to focusing on the topic of the thread rather than having a debate about writing. I just think it serves no point to write sloppy as it makes it difficult for the readers to understand what the writer is trying to say.
