Actually, most of the time you're playing as young link, it's just hard to tell when your sprite is 16 pixels tall. Link in LttP actually has purple hair, too.
And isn't it a bit hippocritical to bash the later Final Fantasy games (I'm with you on that one), and then list FFIX in your top 40?

That still doesn't make sense if you include FF VI in there at number 9, there's probably just as much technology in that title as in later FF games, with all it's robot armour and science of espers bullshit.
(although 8 is ultimate shite, so ignoring it is perfectly acceptable)

The Water Temple wasn't really hard... it was just really annoying.
Thats true. Though it makes up for it by having a bloody easy boss. Not like that damn fire dragon before that. But the fire temple makes up for that by being an awesome dungeon.
The Green Knight, SimeSublime the Puffinesque, liker of chips and hunter of gnomes.

The world map hardly a game breaker , since you spend most of your time on the map getting lost and fighting random battles anyway. You could still find secret areas and places if you looked around the locations in X.
But hey, at least FFX did away with that stupid delay fator combat system (featured to maximum annoyance in IX).

I hated the random encounters in the FF games. Chrono Trigger/Cross had a much better system.

FFX sucked because you had to sit through 4 hours of movies just to find out that it was FF7 & 8's plot just recycled again, and the hero is an even more whiney and effiminate male... Not that we need lots of muscle bound characters, Tidus just had a tacky taste in clothing period...

I think they should do what Paper Mario did, and have First Strikes and stuff like that. Often, enemies just walk/float around without concerning themselves with you. Like how a Goomba charges you, an Imp should charge you. And if it's a Koopa Troopa, you are struck first, while if you jump on them, you strike first.

No, the WT boss was fucking hard, because I could never hit it with my hookshot. Took me like 100 times to kill it. Didn't lose many hearts, though, if that's what you're referring to. FT boss was easy as pie, and the dungeon rocked too.

That's why I don't play FF-style RPGs.
