Yesterday morning on the news, I heard about a woman who's husband had recently died. He had been military related somehow, but not actively. Some veteran of something. She made an announcement to everyone, something along the lines of "Instead of sending flowers to his funeral, I would appreciate it if you would vote Bush/Cheney this year."
Go politics, and campaigning for what you believe in and stuff, but doesn't that seem a little icky?

It's tough. My initial reaction was to think: "Ugh, how terrible." But I think my feelings on the matter are strongly tied to the fact that I don't like Bush/Cheney. Looking at it from her point of view, she really respects the current administration. In her eyes, getting the votes for Bush/Cheney is the best thing she could do for her husband's memory.
I certainly can't agree with or understand that logic but I guess I can respect it. That being said, she has a much better shot at getting flowers, candies or even a new car from me rather than a vote for Bush/Cheney.

Modern society is based around politics, as the polititions decree how society functions. As such, it permeates through every facet of day to day life.
