Wow. The colour scheme is amazing, but to me, the texture of his face looks more like a woodcarving than skin. On the other hand, the facial expression is a lot better than that of mine, and the fact you used about a hundredth of the colours I used to achieve a much better effect astounds me.
Excuse me for a second, I have to be off to re-evaluate my worth as a human being.

(by the way, that spriting is great. I think Spann, David and HMC working together could create one awesome game)

That's a fair point. I guess it's all a matter of preference. There's a lot of different things you can do:
Just keep in mind that there's no such thing as 'skin color'. Skin is a buffet of colors, of varying hues and shades and intensities. It's semi-translucent, and there's blood underneath it, and any wealth of light sources could be shining on it. Just keep that in mind, and make sure you're applying a good amount of contrast.
Also, while I'm at it, here's the issue with your mansion:
