It came out today in the North American market and was wondering if any of you upon these forums care about this particular game?
It is arguably the greatest RPG to grace the PS2 (And with the amount of quality upon the PS2 this is no small title) and the release of its expansion, full game included, at a discount price today seems like a great deal.
So has any one else played it and wish to talk about it?
Also, I am new to this board and I am not sure if it is assumed or not but can spoilers be properly marked if you so choose to post them?

Yeah I picked it up. Had seen it played before but not played it myself beforehand. Just started cracking into it. I'm assuming like any Atlus game that you can either charge headlong in or be extremely intricate with what you are doing.
I've already liked the combat. It seems simple enough, but it seems to have it's own nuances.
And the fusion system seems like it's a decadent meal of number crunching and flow charting.

I'm a bit lost on some of the controls actually. I think I missed something.
Are there ways to toggle off certain controls for the AI for combat? (ie "Don't use move X" or "Don't use items?")
How do I change priorities on Splitting my team up? It seems stuck on fighting enemies.

some of the localization stuff cracks me up.
They make no qualms about being in Japan, but the characters say that they themselves speak English.
Plus the effeminate French boy speak in his outrageous accent, doubling up everything he says with Anglisized Japanese.

The French kid is supposed to be humorous and the rest of the localization things are just the oddities that come about when translating a game with a fairly well grounded real world setting. If they just lived in Cloud City then it would be easy enough to say they spoke English and leave it at that but when half the people look Asian and there are Shinto Shrines about then you can only have it in an Asian Country or certain parts of San Francisco and the world map doesn't look like San Francisco so you have to go with Japan.
Hope you're enjoying it though.

If you enjoyed it so much consider looking up some of the other games in the series. On the PS2 the other games were Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (The Persona series is a spin off of the SMT series) and the other two were SMT Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2.
The first games were on the NES and SNES and are all very very good but the earliest ones were Japan only, though fans have translated them.

I loved Persona 3, so it should come as no surprise that I loved Persona 3: FES even more. If the original was a ritzy-fancy Italian restaurant, FES is the competitor next door, except with a more expansive menu, better service, and women from Hooter's. I don't care much for the new thing like going into the arcade or new Personas but 'The Answer' and more immersive events were more than enough to make me slap down the budget of $29.99 for the original game AND extra content. I love P3/FES so much that I can't possibly say everything I want to in one post. Until next time!
