(ok well, I just noticed it's been some time since you posted that, but what can I say, I explored your site a bit after the headfirst encounter on The Escapist - kudos btw for Zero Punctuation, can't wait for the next one)... ok from a while back, you mentioned the fundamental flaws in damage models in FPS's.
It's almost eerily coincidental that just these past few days I've been playing Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth, which - in terms of the playing character, at least - accurately depicts what you were describing, right down to the blood loss, body parts etc. Granted, it's not your typical FPS, but it's not something terribly different either; and yes, it has its bad parts (loads of them) but also has a creepy atmosphere I can't seem to shake off, hence the eeriness aforementioned. Well, now that I think about it, it's something like a first-person Resident Evil (the early ones, not the new crappy one(s)), at least up to the point I managed to reach so far (car chase and drive-by shoot-out?!...
