Adolf Hitler was a Catholic.
Actually Adolph Hitler was a Norse Paganest (in most of his earlier speeches he talked lot about Valhalla). BUT, most of the other fascists who allied with Hitler were Catholics and Hitler had plenty of indorsements from the Vatican; I have read that the Vatican even helped out during Operation Ratline.

Yes and no. Hitler made a deal with the current Pope (Pius?), that he wouldn't speak out against the Nazis if they left the church alone. Given that they were hellbent on massacring the Jews (whom nobody particularly liked), and the Communists (who were very much against religion, generally coming from countries were the local religion was an obscenity used to keep the aristocrats in power and oppress the people), they made good allies with the Church.

I was under the impression the Nazis were opposed to the Church.
Internally speaking; they did oppose the church. But it was mainly Protestants and a few Catholic priests that went against collective thought. Keep in mind that the Nazis basically wiped out all other Christian religions in Germany and occupied countries from Mormonism to Orthodox Christianity to Jehovah Witnesses’.

Yeah, it wasn't just the Jews who were massacred, I guess.
Reminds me of that quote from Martin Niemöller:
First they came for the Communists--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Socialists--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the schools--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not a teacher.
Then they came for the free press--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not a reporter.
Then they came for the Jews--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the sick, the so-called incurables--
And I didn't speak out,
For I was not incurable.
Then they came for the Church--
And I didn’t speak out,
Because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me--
And by that time,
There was no one left to speak out for me.

Don’t be daft. Plenty of Jews and non-Jews were massacred by the Nazis, its what makes them so damn evil. Keep in mind that almost everyone suffered under Nazi rule.

Significantly more non-Jews than Jews. It's just that the Cold War stopped people from caring about the Slavs or leftwingers.

It wasn't Hitler who saved Germany; it was the Weimars, von Papen and von Hindenburg and the lot. Hitler just got credited for it afterward.
Well, he did come up with some economic reforms of his own. Such as forcibly taking the property of various undesirables for everybody else to use instead. That was good for the "everybody else".
Though, I admit, he did get alot done. You don't go from being a wreck of a nation to a serious threat to Western Europe in less than a generation without doing something right...the power of demagoguery.
Oh, and cheers, I'd been looking for that quote. Though, personally, I think the "there was no-one left to speak out" would have been less important than those who could speak out not being whatever he was.

Yep, speaking from a technical political standpoint, Hitler was right to enforce a police state. You can't wage war against the rest of the free world as a Republic or the people will grow weary of fighting, the war will grow increasingly unpopular the longer it drags on, and your name will get dragged through so much mud before it's over. Even if you find a reason to be there (they had weapons of mass destruction) an excuse like "stay the course".

What nonsense. They drove the economy into the ground. Is printing money your idea of revitalising it? Also, to suggest Hindenburg saved Germany is ludicrous, and Papen was a self-serving tosspot.
