I don't recall ever losing that argument. I chose to stop debating because what I was doing was "sacrilege" to most people here (pointing out stupid things in the OT) and the replies I was getting to my arguments were either childish, narrow minded, or resulted in the whole "well at least it isn't as silly as the PT" argument....which isn't even a defense at all! Again, if you do believe Luke could just get into the X-Wing and do what he did, then I applaud your imagination. I'm envious of people who can suspend disbelief to that extent. I am angry with myself for not being able to turn off my critical thinking abilities. I wish I could be a kid again and reach for that rainbow.
CGI Yoda for ESB? Will GL do it?

'Chose to stop debating', right. You chose to stop debating because I had taken every one of your arguments, ripped them into tiny little shreds, scattered them over the floor and danced on the pieces. Not that it was worth my time, as you don't appear to have taken in a word of what I said (or what anyone else said, for that matter). Oh, and 'narrow-minded'? This from the guy who apparently can't imagine one single way a twenty-year-old boy could have learned to fly on Tatooine? What a laugh.
Come off it, Storm. You cannot abandon an argument you were losing in a fit of pique, then repeat the same crap all over again in another thread and expect people to take you seriously. This isn't about people being unable to accept that there are flaws in the OT; this is about the fact that the 'flaw' you claim to see exists only in your own imagination. Either give in gracefully or just shut up about it, because you're not impressing anyone.

GAH!
Please...just stop that. We bash and make fun of parts of the OT all the time. Nobody thinks it's perfect. Yes, most of us think it's far better than the PT. Please, show me where people have said it was "sacrilege" and making fun of them was wrong.

Please...just stop that.
I'm sorry my "imagination" started this argument again. I should have left it alone. But then, I thought this argument was already finished way back in the "Worst Scene Ever" thread. But, there we go again, just my wild imagination playing tricks on me I guess; or, I guess I chose to "suspend disbelief" about the argument being over. Gotta reach for that rainbow.
Anyway, I'm kind of new to the forum. Do I "choose to stop debate" now, when it's just personal attacks and petty bitching? Or do I wait until 5 or 6 people repeatedly cite credible evidence for why my argument is flawed and then choose to stop debate?

Anyhow, and now back to discussing whether or not Lucas is idiotic enough to change the puppet Yoda in ESB to a CGI Yoda! In my opinion, the man has done a lot of stupid things, but I don't think he would be stupid enough to touch the Yoda in ESB or ROTJ. I would, however, agree that he should change the Yoda in TPM as he just looks like trailer park trash.

The CGI Yoda never even came close to looking remotely real. NEVER. Whenever the PT Yoda did something, it was apparent CGI, no question about it.
In 1983, however, the true Yoda was made. This Yoda, although a puppet, actually could pass FOR A LIVING CREATURE! Monster Shop (or whatever) was that good! They did over 20 years ago with a puppet what LucasArts can't do today with CGI.

He'll do the stuff he's secretly always wanted to do, including CG Yoda in all six movies. Maybe we'll even get a CG vader. Heck, make the whole movie CG! I mean, why not? We're getting a CGized version of the Clone Wars series, so the technology is already there...
Who was it that said "If Lucas could find a way to make a movie without actors, I think he'd jump at the chance" (or words to that effect?)

Well, I agree with the decision to change the Yoda in TPM to CGI. I always thought it was a weird move to use the original Yoda puppet in TPM in the first place. I'll be honest, I never followed any of the pre-Episode I hype, so, I don't know if there was some official line about why Lucas chose to do this (I'm sure there was, but to me it just seemed like a very weird instance of pandering to fanboys - saying, "We've paid so much attention to detail that we're even using the original Yoda!"). But, in any case, using the original puppet didn't make Yoda look good in TPM, and, since he's CGI in AOTC and ROTS might as well make it uniform.
Now, as far as replacing the Yoda in ESB with a CGI character, I don't think I would say Lucas is idiotic is he does it. It's a calculated risk essentially. If George Lucas thinks he can sell more copies of his special editions by making Yoda CGI, then, it's almost assured that he'll do so.
So, the question really should be: if a new special edition version of Empire Strikes Back came out, boasting a CGI version of Yoda, would you buy it?
Personally, I wouldn't . But, I'm guessing a lot of people would.

Of course, I answered my own question - logic. Something GL does not seem to be in touch with.
