Hense, if in 20 years Lucas adds the Greedo scene back to the film, then it can be considered and justifiably used as a criticism.
Until then...

Though, as I pointed out before, if Lucas has his way, we'll probably be seeing the unwanted edition of pointless scenes to the movie by next year.
Who knows, maybe we'll be seeing Anakin finally able to beat up Greedo in 3D.

i don't know... most of things cut were cut due to timing...
it was a matter of what he thought was important enough to keep.
personnally though i think he's made some poor choices with the ep3 deleted scenes.
some would have a been a real benifit to the film...
but the fact that he even filmed the greedo fight was lame...
finding out that peter jackson had filmed sequences of Arwen fighting in Helmsdeep put a bloody sour taste in my mouth... but as the film was pretty kick ass it was a good descision...
when some has alot of lame scenes and you find out there were more, it's just too hard to not add them to the pile of complaints.

They never mentioned Wald's name outright in the film. Therefore, I deem his name is of no significance.

It was in the credits.
You're right about it being of no significance though. At least until people started mistaking him for Greedo. Then the guy took on a whole life of his own.

The fact that he isn't in the film, and so cant be considered part of the film?
I don't see how we can even argue about that, its just a fact.

edit: NOT Ep 2. It's episode one we're arguing, right? They're SO ingrained in memory.
If the "Storm's a-comin' Annie" woman (You know her name, I'd wager nobody else here does) isn't in the 3-D version; she never existed, right? How about the Anchorhead gang? What about Darth Plageius' Father? They ever mention HIM? Another virgin birth?
No, because there are a lot of things we presume. Of course Darth Plageius had a father.
And the first bit of TPM is so riddled with meeting younger versions of characters we grew up with; who honestly DIDN'T think it was baby greedo?
I'd also bet that GL's employees said "George, you don't have to show those scenes. Everybody thinks Wickett is Greedo anyway, so instead, lets..." GL: "replace it with ANOTHER Jar-Jar scene. Glad I thought of it!"
