Zato- Alrighty, as it stands you have one ship under your command, the HMS Blade and the HMS Prince Charles. The Blade is an interceptor specially designed for pirate hunting, a new class of royal navy vessel and the Charles is a retrofitted cutter, not as well armed as the Blade but able to keep up with it and do a good bit of work in a bombardment. The Lord Admiral meanwhile has a fleet of three ships, his flagship, the Royal Oak, is a man-o-war, probably the most powerful ship currently in the Caribbean. He's accompanied by two cruisers, HMS Cornwall and HMS Lancaster. There are 2 other ships in the royal navy Carribean force, the York and the Hampton Arms. The York is an assault frigate made for boarding and the Hampton Arms is a man-o-war. (they'll be commanded by the third Royal Navy officer) There are also various patrol ships and traders that will be going about which will be easy prey for the pirates.

As for the pirates, you all get to choose the names of your ships and what kind they are. As it currently stands Jane has one pretty average pirate vessel which she has not yet named, and Slade has a really good pirate vessel, as in it's about as powerful a ship as you can get while still having enough speed to chase down merchants. He's also got a good crew and some nifty equipment seeing as he works for France. He would be good to name his ship as well.

One or two of the pirates may end up having two ships under their command, but I roled for Slade and Jane and they've each only gotten one.

By the way, you should all note that none of the pirates know eachother. One or two acceptions might be made for former members of the Sea's Pleasure crew but on the whole pirates aren't terribly likely to socialize seeing as they're as apt to steal from other pirates as non-pirates, so the only really good reason to meet another pirate is under terms of parlay in the most dire situation, or if they have something you absolutely need, or if your ship's been sunk and you've got nothing else to lose.

Cuba, Puerto Rico, South America, Mexico, Guadalupe, Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Lucia all belong to the Spanish, and it would behoove evreyone to stay away from the Spanish power bases which are located in Cuba and South America, as well as Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaica, Virgin Islands, and Saint Kitts/Nevis are all British territories and, oddly enough, the entire British fleet has moved to Port Royal Jamaica, many ships sailing down from Bermuda (off the map North of Cuba)

Aruba and the Antilles belong to the Dutch with their main base at Aruba.

St Martinique, Anguilla and Montserrat all belong to the French, with their main base at Montserrat.

Haite is largely lawless so it's the main pirate base with the center of power being at Tortuga. The Dominican Republic area is also mostly lawless though it's claimed by the Spaniards.

As soon as I know who's who I'll PM everyone individual starting locations. The British will all have the same start location in Port Royale Jamaica.

I'd like me own ship, but I may have to sail under a fellow Pirate's flag, but I be not the complainin' type.

Barend- Groovy. You're a pirate working for the Dutch. The Spanish and French won't like you, but you'll have a better chance of getting out of trouble with the British.

Everyone else: You've all got your own ships, you may name them and do as you will.

Floppydisk: You're going to be an English commander in charge of the York and the Hampton Arms. Someone had to do it and the dice said it was gunna be you.

Edit: Dorothy, you got a lucky role. You have 2 ships at your command, one manned by an unplayed Lieutenant of yours, though it's smaller than your main vessel.

I'm sending out clues to the treasure to those that will have them in PMs. To save time I'll just post all of the pirate's locations here as OOC knowledge. After this point we're officially in character, so you'll be using your piratin names from ehre on out. All OOC comments will be before your posts and surrounded by two parentheses (( this is ooc )) like so. Now, as for locations:

All Brits start from Port Royale.
Barend starts from Aruba and his ship is not called the bitey 69er.
Slade starts from Montserrat
Jane starts from Tortuga(northeast tip of Haiti)
Otal starts in the seas halfway between Jamaica and South America.
Dorothy starts in the waters off of Dominica.

So, as I said, state your pirate (or English navy) names and the serious names of your ships in your first posts, and state where you're heading and so on and so forth. You guys all have a fair stash of gold if you want to purchase stuff and keep track of it, but Dorothy is going to be a bit poorer as she has two ships. The English will be pretty rich but their ships already have just about everything...

Arr, ye scurvy land-lubbers! I be Captain Emmanuel Swordfish of the Ugly Duckling. I can lapse from pirate-speak into proper English with a flick of me mind due to being a privateer and havin' to be diplomatic with the aristocracy. ((But it's bizarre to mix the two, so it mainly breaks down into pirate-speak when discussing things with pirates, educated lingustics when the situation requires them.))

Anywho, I'd like to purchase a five month food supply for my crew and set sail for St. Kitts, flying my merchant flag so as not to draw too much unwanted attention.
((What sort of ship do I have, exactly, and where's Curaco? Not settled yet?))
