Yeah, not those drivin' pirates!

But what about the Intelectual Property Pirates?

QUOTE ('Floppydisc')
So what exactly are we questing for?

*Which I read as where do we begin*

At first I'll probably split you guys up into smaller groups of about 2-3. Eventually with you all meeting up. It works well for PbP games because it makes it so that you're not dependant on ALL the forum members to log-on, create their post, and wait for the next guy just to finish off a round. Each group will have thier own goal and the such. This style also helps with bringing the charicters together encouraging doing the prose, chatting, and rollplaying junk that I don't have to DM happen.

QUOTE ('Zat')
This isn't a serious suggestion, just a thought:

Frank Herbert's DUNE

I proablably would, if I had read the book. Sorry.

QUOTE ('Sime')
Just looked through the rules, and they seem quite good.

Oh yes, best that money could buy (wait). Also keep in mind. I haven't actually run a game with them so give me a bit of a transition period to find appropriate challenge levels.

QUOTE ('Ion')
Yah bizzare all the same though.

What parts are giving you the most trouble. I'd be happy to help sort them out and try and explain a bit.

QUOTE ('Floppy')
Why don't we split it and do the game Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style? That way we have the high fantasy and the ninja stuff.

Hrmmm, could work. I'll have to think about it. Still haven't built the world yet so any suggestions should be posted now or ye shall forever bitch and moan about it to deaf ears.

Whoa, hold on there little speedy, I haven't even thought about what the overall setting might be. Looks good, I like the whole Macguyver power. You won't be able to add bonus's to your rolls so it will be used as it's own trait entirely. I could see it as way to confront non-human challenges (I'll use this bit of string, a squirl, and a bobby pin to pick the cell door) or hell, even as a combat (Crap, I don't have my sword handy, but I did manage to find this steel pipe just lying on the floor for some reason).

As a good rule of thumb: If your description matches two or more of your traits, just go with the one that fits better.

Also for charicter creation, you all get 5 points to distribute amung you traits.

Great example.

Ok guys, I'll hope to start in about 10 days. I'll try and set the date for the first of the month. From what I gathered from all the opinions, you wanted to do a Wuxia type fantasy, high flying and all that jazz. If you need any help with the rules, or if there is anything you don't understand, just say something, I'll be happy to help... and lastly.

QUOTE
So what exactly are we questing for?

You tell me what your guy wants. (Yes, add something like a goal or the such to your charicter, it'll help out big time)

Let's see. Can you tell me the time period? I can base a character on that.

*mutters, curses* Ok lesseehere, fantasy + kung-foo - dark ages * flexability + ((ninjae/2)/Pirate squared) all divided by Pi (apple of coarse) *mutters, explitives*
Alright, from my calculations I've percieved there are two possable settings. Do you guys want Colonial China or Modern Urban Cityscape? Either one will alow kung-fu, pirates, and offer a great degree of flexability.

Colonial China will be more focused on gangs and thier abuse/reg-use of anciant kung-fu to gain power/make the populus horrible, will be more of a local-campaign (not much traveling). Filled to the brim with political intrigue, high flying action, truely epic feel, avaliablility of magic, traditional ninjas, and traditional pirates.

Modern/Urban will be based on the Underground criminal and litteral. Features truely fantastic locations, a world not seen before-yet oddly possable, wonderfully thought out and uniqe groups - histories - NPCs - will almost feel real, avaliablity of low-level ritual/occult magic and gun-fu, corperate ninjas, and subway-train pirates.

In the Modern campaign world you'll be a bit more split-up, may not have the chance to work all together. In the China campaign the climax will be you guys going against the world.

I think I can do a better game with the Modern setting but if you want to do the China one, I can deal. Whatever you guys want.

Like I said, easy there tiger. Slade hasn't even posted yet. Besides, you might want to try something a bit differant from last game. Variaty is the spice of life and all.

I vote for Colonial China (if only to warm up even), but either one is fine to me.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

To be honest, I'm kinda nervous. I already feel like this is going to be far too orderly, but I'll give it a shot...

Give us some linkage or something to character generation choices and whatnot...

I put the vote for the modern/urban one, though I seem to be outnumbered.
The Green Knight, SimeSublime the Puffinesque, liker of chips and hunter of gnomes.
JM's official press secretary, scientific advisor, diplomat and apparent antagonist?

I'd like the modern/urban setting as well. Slade, just check the Wushu Wiki, it's super duper simple.

Hey, I do like this. And it gives me a chance to be nigh immortal, what with all of my over-the-top theatrics all the time in these things.

Time for me to create a character...

Slade is still embarking on the washingmachine quest in a different time period, so I need to create a new guy, who's not another ninja-pirate. Or a robo-dinosaur.

*light bulb!*

I shall be in control of Professor Razael Tyrshand, one studious in the arts of magery. During his travels around the world in search of knowledge, he's picked up some combat knowledge, and as his name would suggest, he carries old Norse blood, which flares up from time to time.

Icey will probably get the most kick out of his last name, which I came up with before I read up on Tyr. tongue.gif C'est ironique, non? (I probably just butchered that french.)

Traits:
The Arts Arcane - 2 Spellcasting of all types.
Norse Blood - 2 We all know how Icey gets sometimes.
Martial Combat - 1 General weaponry. For the record, a bastard sword isn't an exotic weapon here. pinch.gif

Weakness: Adventuresome - He's the guy who can't resist pushing that button clearly labeled "DO NOT PUSH," or exploring that musty old passageway, regardless of the danger signs and whether he has a light source or not.

He's a university professor and is relatively retired from adventures at the moment, as he spent his youth exploring, so his non-spell casting weapons will depend on the situation he's thrown into, though the vikingness gives him good adaptation.

And we only have five points to distribute amongst our traits, not eleven, Iceman. Unless I missed a post or something. Feel free to correct me. And I hope our characters can grow in stats once in a while, because 5 points is pretty feeble to start with...

No Slade, the rules say that each trait starts at two and then distribute 5 points
