I am the Queen of Inane Versus Threads.
And those little plastic fuckers would win hands down. I mean...just look at those creepy little bastards! Look at them! They're weird!

When I read this, I had the rather horrible premonition of someone starting a "Lemur VS Puffin" VS "Classic Troll VS Plastic Troll" poll. I'll stop this from ever happening by saying the puffin versus lemur thing was absolutely BRILLIANT and I'll never be able to top it, even if I try the rest of my life. Anyway, thats two. I can feel my self-esteem problem getting better as we speak.
EDIT: Check the spelling BEFORE you hit the add post button, you fucking retard.

Also, why are there many plastic trolls? That is unfair. It's like when Jane first posted the picture of two lemurs. If you're doing this properly, its either a one on one grudge match, or two teams of equal numbers.

Fuck it, I'm starting to get bored waiting. I'll wait for one more person to say they'll take part, then I'll begin.

Jane- Rum is actually kind of spicy from my experience but you have to realize that the hard four (whiskey vodka tequila and rum) are for mixing, not for drinking. Try mixed drinks like daquirris and margaritas and pina coladas. They taste yummy! Also, the fruit juice wine mixes are very good for beginers, I still drink these occasionally. White wine and blushes are generally good. Go for wet drinks rather than dry.
And now, my thoughts on alcohol. As a novelist I believe that I am far more enlightened about drinking than any, except perhaps for a musician like Heccubus.
Vodka- Great for mixing or shots. Very warming but if you combine whiskey and vodka and drink it YOU WILL EXPLODE.
Whiskey- I don't like whiskey too much, too much flavor.
Rum- My favorite out of the four I've tried. bold and flavorful and made from sugar- yay!
Tequila- I havnt tried it yet.
Port wine- Syrupy sweet and highly alcoholic-whats not to like?
Girl drinks- Grrr! There is not a damn thing wrong with my girly drinks. Stop looking at me. Bastards. Hemingway drank daquirris you know. Well he did. He slammed fourteen of them in a sitting and then he survived two plane crashes. Call him a girly drink drunk why dont you???
Yeah, I like sweet alcohol. If cherry coke was alcoholic thats what I'd drink exclusively.
Beer is ass.
Mixed drinks are super cool!
I find some of the more exotic liquers (schnaps liquoers and such) to be nifty and sweet and good.
Amaretto and Sambuca fookin rock if you ever get a chance to try either.
On the trolls debate, who would win* in a battle to the death between Thrawn, Hannibal and use the force, if garth vader was referee?
*(besides the audience I mean)

That's exactly what my mother said when I asked her about her drinking experience in the past (god only knows why I asked her. I ask stupid questions when I feel babbly.) In the end, after admitting that she personally enjoyed rum drinks, she suggested I just try rum cake.
I think that's what attracted me in the first place...well, that and the piratey associations...
All right, so now I know to avoid the "Hard Four" you speak of when and if I start drinking (funny, those are always the ones I hear about people drinking the most...). I never realized those were in their own group of "stuff that'll get you fucked up." Should I take a sensitive gag reflex and my immediate family's alcohol tolerance level into account as well?

And I can't help but noticing the original tangent about alcohol has shown its ugly face again. I suggest you all go to my "Yet another stupid game!" thread in the lobby of chefelf which is about alcohol, although originally it was about a game I created called broom. I made the rather stupid mistake of mentioning I was under the influence of 5 pints of vodka during it's creation, and another fucking tangent was born.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH ME CREATING TANGENTS EVERYWHERE I FUCKING GO?!?!?!?!?!?
This is probably the first time in my life where bitter, bitter irony actually turned out in peoples favour so I suppose I should be grateful. So yeah, you all should go there. Leave those poor, poor sitcom people(wherever the fuck they've gone) to talk in peace.

And as far as "First Time Drunk" goes, I'd agree with our boy JM. Except about beer, there's some very good beer out there, you just need to know what's good.

Really any alcohol will fuck you up, but some things have higher percentages of it. Beer and wine are about 10-15% alcohol (Or 20-30 proof respectively) Gin (for the love of god dont ever drink gin) and flavored liquers go highter, and then it goes up to the hard four, and then you get something like moonshine, which can be up to 200 proof. Moonshine is strictly an east coast phenomenon, and its not terribly safe since its unregulated.
You really can't know how you'll react to alcohol until you've tried it. If you're going to drink make damn sure you've had a decent meal first. Drinking on an empty stomach will fuck you up quicker than you think. Sometime just start off with something thats not too hard and drink a bit and see what it does. Your first time drinking should definately not be at a large party or a concert, that's just inviting disaster.
The reason people brag about drinking vodka or whiskey or what have you is that it just sounds cool to be able to say you drank stuff like that. (For instance, how I tell people proudly that I once drank shots of vodka mixed with whiskey even though it made my mouth go numb and I started drooling) If you've got some experience than by all means go down a few shots, but it shouldnt be your first beverage.

Beer and cruisers are usually about 5%, not 10%.
(though wine is 10-15%)
Liquors are in the range of 20% from my experience.
Whiskey, vodka and rum are mostly 38-40%. It's only the OP stuff that is higher, and that costs a lot more. Just read the bottle.
Like JM said, eat first. I cannot stress that enough. Same with the parties. First time your better off at a small gathering with friends, so you know that if you overdo it you can just sleep on the couch or whatnot.
As an alternate on the first drinking experience, may I suggest what I did. Multiple depthcharges in a 10 minute period. Sure, not the smartest thing to do, more like throwing you in the deep end. But hey, it works.
Also, VD, nobody cares about the sitcoms. That conversation died long ago, and if anybody wants to resurect it, they're free to any time. Or they could just make a Sitcoms 2: Electric Boogaloo thread, or somesuch. Tangents around here are normal and to be expected, and pointing them out is like constantly asking if you're going to get arrested for looking at pornography

I guess the taste could be considered sweet as far as alcohol goes, considering that we use extracts from sugar cane to make our rum fresh. I can't really compare the taste to anything else, since it's really difficult to do. I'll post back after this weekend, when I've gotten good and tipsy (since I seem to have a good alcohol tolerance for some reason) off of some Extra Old.
If you want, and have the cash ('bout $40 US), I could get one of the big plastic bottles and ship it to you. They're pretty easy to come by.

Concerning the wine; I got it from going to church (church sucks). It was a catholic church, so they give out wine all the time. Couldn't that be considered giving alcohol to minors, or do they get some kind of immunity toward that cause they've been doing it forever?

Although, with my taste buds and gag reflex, I think I should lock myself safely in the bathroom when I do...just in case...
