Disney Tour Bus Catches Fire

( Local 6 News) ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Disney tour bus carrying 54 passengers caught fire and was destroyed Thursday as it traveled to Port Canaveral.

Officials said the fire was reported on the Disney bus at about 2:15 p.m. on the side of the Beeline Expressway between Dallas Boulevard and state Road 520.

The bus was reportedly having some type of tire problem before the fire ignited.

Police said when the driver spotted smoke, he immediately pulled the bus over on state Road 528 and evacuated the bus. The vehicle then ignited and was later videotaped completely engulfed by flames.

"The bus driver did a great job," Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Kerr said. "As soon as he noticed something was not right underneath the vehicle he pulled over and got everyone off the bus before he knew what was wrong."

There were no injuries in connection with the fire, according to Local 6 News.

A Disney official said another bus was sent to pick up passengers and transport them to their Port Canaveral cruise terminal.

The bus was apparently headed eastbound when it caught fire.

The fire forced police to close all lanes of the Beeline Expressway Thursday afternoon.

Fire's all good and fun. One of the few things I took away from beign a Scout for nearly a decade was "if you soak wood in paraffin, let it dry, then set it on fire, it burns quicker". That and "*cough* The moon is round, has two eyes a nose and a mouth".

That has no relelvance to anything at all, but its worth saying just for the randomness value.

Blah blah Disney. It's just a bus. This sort of thing probably happens every day. The only reason it made news is because it's a bus that is used by Disney. Were it not for that, no one would give a rat's ass. I'm willing to bet that there's a Greyhound burning by the side of the road somewhere right now, and there probably aren't any freakin' news crews standing by to film it.
