So you'll either have lots of little Catholic children running around, or she'll keep you on the straight and narrow?
Why isn't the prospect of inhaling tar, rat poison, and a good deal many other toxic chemicals, coupled with diminished lung capacity and significantly higher potential for heart disease and lung cancer as well as almost guaranteed addiction and very high price enough of a deterrent to stop people from using cigarettes?

Because when she spurns your advances you can just say "The pope says you gotta do it, ha ha ha!"

I think that may be related to diminishing IQs. That, or people really don't care anymore. I'm not sure which possibility is more disturbing.

Addiction is a lot like faith if you don’t have it you wont understand it but if you do you don’t feel the need to justify it. Plus it looks cool.

Actually, cigarettes saved my aunt's life. She'd had some kind of parasitic infection and was hospitalized because she didn't know until it had gotten out of control. Smoking actually kept the parasites from her lungs, had they gotten in there, she could have died.

We carry a harpoon
But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales
And sing a whaling tune

Also, I've heard that if you start smoking at the age of 50, it can actually help you live longer. It helps counteract arthritis, and other things you get later in life. But because you're older, there's less chance you'll feel the negative effects of smoking, because on average, not enough damage will have been done to make smoking shorten you life more than the postive effects have lengthened it.
