Looks interesting. I haven't even heard of it until now. I think 'beam katana' is as close to lightsaber as we're going to get until the Star Wars lightsaber game comes out for Wii.
I may check it out depending on reviews. I have so many games I'm playing right now that it may need to wait. I've been entirely irresponsible in the number of Wii games I've purchased so far. They're definitely making their money off me.

Oops. I just noticed that the protagonist's name is 'Travis Touchdown.' I think I will put this on hold a little longer than I thought.

Not bad. I need to get off my lazy duff and finish Mario Galaxy first.
The beam katana just looks like a fluorescent light bulb. Not a very threatening weapon.

Maybe that's what it is. You break a lot of fluorescent bulbs against your enemies and that white powder gets everywhere and it takes them forever to clean up the mess. Then you can sneak by them while they're sweeping and you win!

My last week was absorbed by this game. It's absolutely one of teh most quirky, funny games I've ever played. Totally over the top. The fighting can get a little repetitive when you're clearing out cronies, but the boss matches are a blast. Every boss had their own personality. And the characters around the GTA'esque city were hilarious. Everything added to teh atmosphere. The TIE Riders (TIE pilots riding TIE themed motorocycles), retro game graphics and interface, the video store girl calling asking you for your porn back and why they got a video of a man humping a pillow, and even when Sylvia calls you and it pipes through the wiimote and you find yourself holding it like a cell phone.
I'm working my way through it again. It's short (12ish hours) but very very sweet.
FYI, Phantasy Star Universe had a crafted sword that was a fluorescent bulb.

Are you enjoying Mario Galaxy, Chef? I bought one for my nephew at Christmas but haven't been over to try it out myself. It looked pretty sweet, but I just never find myself with 100 hours or so of spare time to play games these days.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

Personally I felt that Mario Galaxy was exceedingly over rated, though in no way a bad game the simple fact that it is rated as the second best game of all time on www.gamerankings.com seems ridiculous to me. I have never been a fan of the 3D Mario games though.
No More Heroes on the other hand is enjoyable for me, the presentation of it all is quite good and it's Suda 51. The writing is generally over the top without being painfully so and the gameplay is enough to keep me playing through. It is in no way a game for everyone but it is certainly a worthwhile addition to the starved Wii library.
