Now, to get back on topic: I'd give leeches the old Revolutionary welcome; tar 'em, feather 'em, and light the whole thing on fire. It's an old classic that never goes out of style.

You're like that kid who's desperate to be cool and hangs around the big kids doing anything they ask in the hope they'll be his friend. Why are you so blissfully oblivious of the fact that your posts are worthless and everyone is telling you to shut up? I am not joking, no-one is just joshing you around, do NOT attempt to laugh this off. I mean it this time. If you have nothing worth saying and nothing to contribute, POST NOTHING.
I know that even as you read this your hand is snaking towards the 'reply' button to rattle off a standard emoticon-spattered weak retort. And now you've read that sentence your resolve to do so has probably strengthened because you think it'll make you look carefree and defiant. But it doesn't. It makes you look like an oblivious prick. If you know what's good for you, stop.

The very nature of a post-based medium is that each post represents an idea that one contributes to the general morass of discussion; hence the name 'forum'. Your one or two sentence posts cannot be classified as ideas, or insights, or meaningful. You will find that they are tolerated only by exception. You cannot yak your goddamn head off here without causing intense irritation.
You may think I'm being hypocritical for saying this as many other people have posted with short replies as well, but the difference is that these are often witty, well-timed, and the essence of how they have developed the discussion is well understood. Your vacuous comments like "wow, how nice of you" belongs in the realms of small-talk, not here. Do you understand? We are being intelligent.
If you want to seem, to be frank, like less of an idiot, try to comment on more than just one aspect of a post, or try and have more to say than just a vague response or summary.

Again, I am really sorry if I have annoyed any of you; I never meant to be either a nuisance or a leech. I simply wanted to contribute to discussion.
That is all.

And for the love of snake nipples! Stop posting smiley’s after every sentence.

Sorry, Cobnat; it's just to provide the emotional context for the post.

Before this magical Internet came into being, people had to convey emotions without quirky little faces using something called "writing technique". I know it might seem like taking a step backward into the dark ages, but believe you me -- if you can't set the context without a stupid sprite, then you're not a very good writer (read: poster). That's not to say you shouldn't ever use them (they are there, after all), but use them sparingly.
Also, you're still posting like somebody is shooting unhelpful, meaningless dribble out of a machine gun and into this forum. I don't mind you nearly as much as some, but I understand where they are coming from. Just take it down a notch and find yourself a hobby.
