the inclusion of a borat impersonater in epic movie was far more baffeling? considering that there joke was to show him in that big green thong, which was also the joke in the original, so what was the point of having him in epic movie?

it's like family guy, which i enjoy but, what the hell was with the sound of music bit when the kids go to bed? they just re-enacted it... that's not enough, you have to do something with it. the griffins doin it doesn't make it funny oni ts own.

All of those films, SCARY MOVIE, DATE MOVIE, NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE, etc, suffer form the misunderstanding that simply referencing pop culture isn't funny. Like, not on its own. You should have some sort of comment or joke to go with it. I don't understand the continued success of those films.

Also, EPIC MOVIE seems not to be made with the understanding of what an "Epic movie" is. Like SPARTACUS, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, etc. A low-budget indie like BORAT doesn't even come close.

Gah, my dad brought home Epic Movie. We got about ten minutes in and were so disgusted with it we turned it off and wanted to use the disc to scrape poop off our shoes. It managed to somehow be WORSE than Scary Movie. But you know, for being such awful movies, a lot of people like them. I guess there are just a lot of stupid people in existence. Sad.

Something Ive noticed that is played out, worn out, copy-catted everywhere, and overkilled is:

This surfer-dude beach-bum look.

The average person that sports this image wears a shirt that says with huge letters that says:

"H-O-L-L-I-S-T-E-R"

whoooopeeey--dooo... You are sooo cool cause you have a shirt from Hollister. Are you from California?, Have you ever lived in California? Have you ever been to California? Do you have friends in California?

You are sooo much cooler than me, because you own a shirt that says HOLLISTER on it. Damn.,I am so jealous.

And these people that wear these Hollister shirts, always make sure they buy a shirt from Hollister, that says Hollister with really big letters,..because they are braggarts.

They are usually young skinny guys, who wear worn out, ripped & faded blue jeans, and huge oversized sunglasses.

They also use a whole bottle of hair gel on their hair, and make their hair look like one of the characters off of Dragonball Z.

Lets not forget about those silly seashell necklaces,.usually white minature coral seashells,.sometimes they are brown. And they wear these silver rings on their fingers..does they silver rings mean they are homosexual? I am confused...I thought they were trying to be cool or something,.oh deary me!

There's a clear and noticeable difference between overused jokes and bad fashion choices. I fail to see how this contributes anything to the topic at hand.
Though the fact that you completely and utterly missed the point of barend's joke makes up for it somehow.

Most of them are garbage, but some dumb movies are alright -- you don't necessarily have to be "stupid" or "sad" to enjoy films like that.

Agreed. I may sound like an old guy, but films like "Up In Smoke" or "This is Spinal Tap" are pretty silly, but the jokes are sincere and quite good, giving the films repeat viewability. It's the dumb films whose humour is cynical and demographic-targeted that are sad. All of these Scary Movie ripoffs are just that - citing pop culture references without any actual punchlines, as though that on its own is funny.

Those are the movies I meant. The Scary Movies and Epic Movie. I wasn't picking on any others.

The Played Out List
Episode 1: BOM-Chicka BOW-WOW!

One recent example is Snoopspeak. I apologize if I have just coined that term, but you probably know what I'm talking about. Some idiot thinks they're hilarious because they say, "Fo-shizzle, my nizzle." Or, "My bellybizzle is itchizzle, my nizzle." Or some other stupid thing with "izzle" tacked onto the end of it. Guess what: you're not hilarious. This is overdone.

i just noticed something. its kind of amusing that a rant is being voiced about "snoop speak",.yet at the same time, its being used flamboyantly right on chefelf.com

anyone scroll down on the front page of chefelf.com and see this?:.....

I know it's too late, but I just remembered; Midget jokes are just not funny anymore. Even arguments of exploitation aside, there is really nothing funny left in them. This one really bothers me. It's incredible how many people in the business are still under the impression that these jokes are gold.

Also, Carlos Mencia. I don't know if he's played out, I just don't like him.

Well I intended that to be a criticism of "snoopspeak" hence the use of the term "my snogbarts" which is, of course, extremely poor snoopesque talk. smile.gif

You know, I always thought that BOM-Chicka BOW-WOW was a reference to the electric guitar portion of the James Bond theme. Must be just me, though. unsure.gif
