Budhism is behind Monkey, and Monkey most certainly is religion for me.

How can you not accept Taoism and accept Budhism? What the hell? They're either both Religions or they arent.

A Catholic theologian once told me that, instead of looking at world religions as paths up a mountain, where only one (or conversely, all) of the paths make it to the top (truth), to think of a mountain where all paths sort of just circle around the side, never quite making it to the top.
He then said, unlike other world religions which may trace their beliefs to a "divinely inspired" person, like Buddha, Zoroaster, Mohammed, Abraham, David Koresh, L Ron Hubbard,....Christianity is one of the few religions that claims to have had a direct physical contact with God. In other words according to them, God said "Damn, this shit is confusing, let me come down in person and set it straight."
Just something to nosh on.

I know a little about Wiccans,
Every year they used to show up at my city and chill for a couple of days for Halloween, I mean Samhain or some other phrase. Just a massive influx. Every once in a while you'd see this dude walking around in a cloak and hood. Wiccan chicks weren't always that hot. They were pretty useful for de-cursing the Red Sox though, so I got to give them props. (Every year the newspapers would interview them on that subjet and ask them to cast something
They would remind us all that Halloween was really originally the feast of Samhain and yadda yadda, most people were drunk in the streets by then. I remember how in Salem it was cool to not dress up if you were a local just to point out that you weren't a tourist. And how it was fun to bitch and moan about the tourists and the wiccans even though they weren't much a problem at all and they were bringing millions of dollars into the city. A chance to be a lowlander for once, instead of being on the receiving end of the stick everytime we went to New Hampshire or the Vineyard or New York or whatever. Idunno, just random memories.
The locals did agree with the Wiccans, however, when TV Land put this big gold statue of "Bewitched" in a park. Everyone just agreed it was retarted.

Well that’s just ridiculous. All manners of ancient Pagans supposedly had physical contact with their gods at some point. Many of the Gods in the Celtic Pantheons were real people or at least based on real people. And I’m pretty sure the same can be said for polytheist religions from around the world.
What’s happened with Wicca is unfortunate. It seems to attract a lot of people who feel rejected by society or who are rebelling against mainstream religion. In all fairness, I’ve met a lot of freaks who claim to be Wiccan. But there’s a lot of regular folks too, people who don’t feel the need to wear nothing but velvet corsets and 10 different pentacles every day.

I wonder if i'd have the balls to go commando under my cloak, robe and pentagram if i were (an ostentatious) wiccan.
Sailor Abbey, I realize there must be some corrolaries on the comment about Christianity. I tried to phrase it correctly. I mean, Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus were both supposedly living Gods, but I doubt many people believed it. Islam and Buddism had human founders who didn't claim to be divine.
Secondly where do you stand on this (somewhat weak) scenario? The impartial Roman historian Tacitus confirmed that a man named Jesus of Nazareth existed and that he was executed. All of Christianity claims that he rose from the dead, a miracle.
Some claim that in order to fufill Jesus' message, some apostles just removed the body to make it look like he rose.
But then them same culprits would have been tortured and killed as martyrs for a hoax.
Is that believeable?
I also noticed I spelled retarded wrong earlier. I guess that can only mean one thing....

numbers don't make a religion... don't get me wrong, i like taoism, but a "religion" requires worship and belief in a higher power or powers...
the force, jedism, could not be refered to as a religion.
budhism, is the following of one mans phyillosphies on how to conduct one's self in worship. it is supplimental to religion. a religious component.
it's all on technicallities, so think i'm going to entertain this farce of a debate much further...
ultimatley, i oppose all organised religions because they're majoritivley about bullying people.
but you can't hate pasificsts who know kung fu. there's no reason to and it's not wise.

So if thats the case, are you willing to agree with me that Budhism is not an actual religion?
